Placing Editorials

Once an editorial has been created, it can be placed on the book plan by simply dragging and dropping the editorial from the clipboard to the correct folio.

Moving Editorials

After placing an editorial on a page, users have the ability to shift the entire editorial, a range of pages or an individual page.

To move a page, simply drag and drop the page onto the correct folio.

Flow Type

Editorial Flow Types allow book planners to plan editorials in two different ways:

  • Auto-Flow: Auto fill is good for flowing editorials around existing placed ads. When dropping an auto fill editorial, the editorial will fill and flow around ad positions until it reaches a position with another editorial on it or the supplied maximum coverage.
  • Coverage-Based: Coverage based flow is good for fixed shape stories where ads will be placed in holes. The dropped editorial will not flow around ad content. The current shape of the editorial will be maintained. If the editorial hits another editorial, a dialog will prompt the user to take action.

All editorials which have a coverage number greater than the amount on the plan will show an overset type [+] icon in the story bar. Both story types can be auto flowed at any time from the page action menu.

Here’s an example of a story auto-flowing around partial ad reservations. You can see as we move the partial ad the editorial automatically adjusts and reflows around the ad reservation:

Coverage

The coverage determines the amount of pages the editorial will cover. To adjust this after the editorial has been created, select the editorial from the book plan and change the Coverage to the desired length within the editorial details.

Shape

When creating an editorial that contains a partial page, it may be necessary to change the shape of the editorial in order to flow ads correctly onto the plan. For example with an editorial that is 3.25 pages, you may need the last page to be a quarter-page vertical as opposed to horizontal. In order to do that, select the page from the book plan that you wish to change the shape of and select the corresponding shape from the Page Details section on the right-hand side.
